The most current, technically precise and versatile education available in the cosmetology training field today. Learn to become a Hairdresser, Hair Colorist, Cosmetologist, Stylist, Nail Technician, Make-up Artist, or Esthetician.
Our curriculum focuses on creating a secure foundation of the scientific building blocks for skin: its function, properties and needs. Learn to become a Facialist, Waxing Specialist, Body Treatment Specialist, Medi-Spa Esthetician, or Make-up Artist.
This 3 day per week schedule allows our students to continue to “earn while they learn” to be a teacher. Learn to become a Cosmetology Teacher, Cosmetology Teacher with Experience*, or Esthetics Teacher.
In 1992, 21-year-old Glendale Heights resident Leilani Magnussen was crowned Miss Illinois USA. A senior at Southern Illinois University, the beauty pageant winner was awarded $1,000, a full-length fur coat and a trip to Cancun.
An exhibition at the DuPage County Historical Museum showcased how much local fashion has changed over the past 150 years. Not only has there been changing styles for hats, gloves and jewelry, but shopping itself has changed. Fashion trends were once sourced from mail-order catalogs, dry goods stores and the local department stores of Marshall Field’s, Sears Roebuck and Co. and Montgomery Ward.
Men’s makeup styles are currently on-trend, but former Glendale Heights resident Billy Corgan has been making bold makeup choices for decades. The alt-rocker is now partnered with fashion designer Chloe Mendel, bringing even more style-focus to their household.
The beauty events in Chicago are a great resource for Glendale Heights’ beauty professionals. Just an hour away, there are many noteworthy events including Chicago Fashion Week, America’s Beauty Show and Makeup Show Chicago.
Beauty students who are interested in theatrical hair and makeup can see the profession in action by attending local plays or volunteering with local theatre troupes. Local options include Bright Lights Theatre in Glendale Heights and McAninch Arts Center in nearby Glen Ellyn.
Attending bridal shows is a great way for those in the beauty industry to see the latest hair and makeup trends for special events. Bridal expos happen in many nearby towns including Naperville, Lisle and Glen Ellyn.
